Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Head of the Multidisciplinary Team stated that 16 days after the successful separation of the Moroccan twins Alsafa and Almarwa the twin Almarwa who has a complex congenital heart disease has been removed from the artificial respirator and has started to breathe normally. Her vital organs are stable and her heart condition is more stable. She has opened her eyes and interacting with her mother and hospital staff and is expected to start feeding in the coming few days. There are no indications of infection or any other major complications.

Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Head of the Multidisciplinary Team reported on the status of the Moroccan twins Alsafa and Almarwa four days after their successful separation. He stated that the twin Almarwa has stabilized and has started to move her extremities, has opened her eyes and her vital signs have become more stable, but continues to require critical and careful observation in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Head of the Multidisciplinary Team stated that 72 hours after the successful separation of the Moroccan twins Alsafa and Almarwa, the twin AlSafa is now awake, moves her extremities and has started to breathe on her own and interact with the medical team and her parents. Her vital organs continue to be very stable without any sign of complications

24 hours after the successful separation of the Moroccan conjoined twins Alsafa and Almarwa performed on 12 July 2008 at the King Abdulaziz Medical City, National Guard Health Affairs – Riyadh

Based on the directive of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, it has been decided to proceed with the separation of the Moroccan twins Alsafa and Almarwa on Saturday, 12 July 2008, with the rehearsal procedure to take place on 9 July 2008 as stated by Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Chief Executive Officer and Head of the Multidisciplinary Surgical Team. The operation is expected to last for approximately 10 hours and take 7 phases. The number of the surgical team participating in the operation is 24.
