The twins Najlaa and Naseebah are 9 days after successful separation. On Friday, 25 January 2002, the twins were taken off the respirators and started to breathe normally without any difficulty. Their other organs are stable and functioning normally and the babies are starting to interact with their family and with the medical team.

The twins at 48 hours from surgery are doing extremely well in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).  They are still on the respirator and it is expected that they will be off the respirator within one to two days.

On Monday, 21 January 2002, at 0820 hours, the twins were taken to the Operating Room where the surgical team started anaesthetizing them, one at a time, starting with Twin A (Najlaa) and followed by Twin B (Naseebah). 

Through his usual humanitarian initiatives, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has directed the separation of a set of Sudanese Siamese Conjoined twin girls to be performed at King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC) - Riyadh, after the completion of the necessary work-up.
